You need data to sign in, watch videos and ask the AI Tutor. On every plan, including the free trial, you can save lesson notes and quizzes to study offline, and quizzes you take offline are marked when you're back online. Text lessons use very little data. We built RMI knowing that data is expensive in South Africa.
No credit card needed. RMI uses PayFast and Ozow, a South African instant EFT payment system. You pay directly from your bank account using your internet banking or banking app. It works with all major SA banks including Capitec, FNB, Standard Bank, ABSA, and Nedbank. No card, no problem.
Yes, absolutely. There are no lock-in contracts. Cancel any time from your dashboard (Manage subscription) or by sending us a WhatsApp on 070 518 5296. Your access continues until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. No cancellation fees, no questions asked.
Yes, on your first payment: ask within 7 days and we refund it in full. After that, plans are monthly with no part-month refunds. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the month you paid for. There are no admin or sign-up fees.
Yes. Royal Mercy Institute (Pty) Ltd is a registered South African company (reg. 2026/459983/07), founded in 2020. RMI works in your browser today and installs like an app on Android, iPhone and computers. A Google Play version is coming. You can WhatsApp our founder, Mohau, on 070 518 5296.
The RMI app is built for Android phones and is actively tested on low-spec devices to make sure it runs smoothly, not just on expensive flagship phones. You don't need a brand-new device. If your phone can run WhatsApp and YouTube, it can run RMI. An iOS (iPhone) version is planned for the future.
Absolutely, and this is exactly who RMI was built for. We have a dedicated High School & Matric Exam Prep course covering the subjects most learners struggle with. Many South Africans rewrite Matric every year and RMI gives you the structured, affordable support to pass. One parent pays and each child has their own grade and progress, making it the most affordable option for households with multiple school-going children. I grew up in Evaton West. Good maths and science help was something you got if your family could pay for it or your school happened to have the right teacher. I wanted that to change.
RMI started in 2020 with me teaching young people in my community. It has grown into a platform with 59 courses, an AI tutor and real tutors, so every learner gets help when they need it, wherever they live.
Today we're building RMI one learner at a time, from R49 a month.
